For small businesses, nonprofits and social entrepreneurs turning a passion into a business is the ultimate dream. But that dream doesn’t come easily. It’s hard work, and there are challenges around every corner.
Fortunately, they don’t have to go it alone. Their chance of success increases with access to the business knowledge and guidance of experienced professionals.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise Advising is where they meet. It’s a free program that connects small business entrepreneurs, social entrepreneurs and nonprofits with volunteer advisors from Hewlett Packard Enterprise so they can solve problems and build businesses together.
HPE Advising is part of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Living Progress, creating a better future for everyone through our actions and innovations.
To make this program possible, Hewlett Packard Enterprise has partnered with MicroMentor, a nonprofit that enables advising relationships through their online platform.
The HPE Advising group is a closed group for Hewlett Packard Enterprise employees and invited entrepreneurs and nonprofits. Group members are invited to make advising relationships that fit best for them. Participants may find the best match by staying within the HPE Advising group or by connecting with one of the many current users of the open MicroMentor community.

Once you have been matched it is time to begin your advising relationship. At this time you can get to know each other, share your experiences and goals and discuss the communication methods and styles you prefer. For tips see Your First Advising Conversation.
Note for Hewlett Packard Enterprise employees: If you are interested in volunteering, we encourage you to discuss this opportunity with your manager. You can use this Manager Discussion Guide to help you prepare for your discussion.
