Daniele Reisbig of Nyaka AIDS Orphan Youth Project with Lisa Ullrich, Program Manager, Hewlett Packard
Through the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Advising Program partnership with GlobalGiving, nonprofits such as the Nyaka AIDS Orphans project were able to increase their community impact. Nyaka AIDS Orphans Project works on behalf of HIV/AIDS orphans in rural Uganda to end systemic deprivation, poverty, and hunger through a holistic approach to community development, education, and healthcare. Nyaka needed to reach more supporters and funders to support its programs and expand its impact. The staff aimed to revamp their branding and marketing strategy. They had considered revamping their name, logo, tagline, and website, but weren’t sure where to start.
Lisa Ullrich, Program Manager of Hewlett Packard reached out to help Nyaka via the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Advising program. Lisa explained “What drew me to this program was being able to give back something with skills I’ve learned and practice every day at work to an organization that would not otherwise have the resources”. Lisa had the marketing and project management expertise to help them chart out next steps. Lisa identified key questions to ask first: Who are our stakeholders? What messages would resonate with them? What is the best way to reach them? Together, Lisa and Nyaka built a roadmap guiding them through their branding & marketing overhaul. Lisa also shared her international social media expertise and helped drive social media traffic in other countries. As Daniele Reisbig, Nyaka Development Coordinator explained, “Lisa operated as a catalyst for us. She asked the most important questions and helped us prioritize, making sure that we were meeting our goals”.
Nyaka now has roadmap for their marketing overhaul, updated messaging, and a redesigned website, which they can now use to find more funding and expand their impact in the community.
